How I work

I work in a person-centred and relational way. As an integrative counsellor, I may draw on a range of different approaches, adapting how I work to suit you as an individual.

Our work together is collaborative - I won’t give advice or tell you what to do, but will support you to explore what’s happening for you in a way that honours your experience. I offer a calm, supportive space where we can gently explore what’s going on for you at your own pace.

I believe change can happen by becoming more fully ourselves, rather than trying to become someone we are not. With greater self-awareness, self-understanding and self-compassion, we can begin to recognise that we have more choices in how we see things and move through the world.

Talking therapy is at the heart of my work, though where appropriate, I might also draw on mindfulness, compassion-based approaches, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis, depending on what feels most supportive and relevant for you. I sometimes work in the here and now, supporting awareness of thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations and relational patterns as they arise in the moment.

I work with the whole person, emotionally, relationally, physically and where it feels meaningful for you, spiritually.

What counselling can help with

People come to counselling for many different reasons.

You might be looking for support with a specific issue, or have a more general sense that something just doesn’t feel right. Together we can explore what’s going on for you in a confidential and non-judgemental space.

Some of the areas I work with include:

  • Stress, overwhelm and burnout

  • Anxiety and ongoing worry

  • Low mood and depression

  • Grief, loss and endings

  • Life transitions and identity questions

  • Trauma and its impact

  • Low self-esteem and self-worth

  • Spiritual or existential exploration

  • Feeling disconnected from yourself, others or the natural world.
